When one of my couples asks if I would be ok traveling to Charleston for their engagement session, it takes less than a second for me to respond YES!!! I absolutely love this beautiful, southern town and all its charm and capturing a sweet couple there is icing on the cake! Arista and Jeff were traveling there for a wedding and thought it could be the perfect backdrop to their engagement pictures and I'd say they were spot on. The only thing missing was their cute pup, Murphy! We met at the White Point Gardens which was soon overrun by school children, but while we walked under the oak trees dodging kids, a sweet little girl stopped Arista to tell her how pretty she was! It was so precious and this little girl was absolutely right! These two were dressed to fit the part of a beautiful southern couple in the Holy City and I loved exploring the many picturesque nooks and crannies of the downtown areas. Arista and Jeff are so comfortable with each other and they made my job so easy! Since we used this trip as an excuse for a workcation/babymoon, Morgan tagged along as my pack mule/car lookout. We all had so much fun I was sad they had to leave for wedding festivities! Thankfully they live nearby and puppy play dates are in our future. Arista and Jeff - thank you so much for giving me a wonderful reason to visit one of my favorite places. You guys are the best!!
Wedding season has officially begun!! I had the honor and pleasure of photographing Dacey and John's beautiful wedding ceremony at St. James UMC and epic party at the Dunwoody Country Club! These two live right outside Charleston but planned their wedding back home in Atlanta, which meant they put a lot of trust in their vendor team! In fact, I was the only vendor they met in person before the big day! I got to know them during their engagement session in Charleston, but after spending time with their family and friends I feel like I learned so much more about them. Normally wedding days involve two families joining into one, but Dacey and John's families were friends long before this day was ever in the works. Isn't that the dream? Have your kids marry your best friends' kids? Pretty sure there could be a sitcom about it... especially with Dacey's mom and dad's personalities! I seriously adore this sweet couple and the wonderful people that surrounded them on their big day!
I love getting to capture families as they grow and it's even sweeter now that we are growing our own family! I got to photograph Cooper a week after he came into the world and now he's 6 months old and boy has he grown!! He is definitely a charmer and I can see why he's the favorite at his daycare. We had the PERFECT spring day (in February?!) for these pictures and I'm so glad I got to spend time with this family. Not only does Lindsay look AH-mazing (#momgoals), but it was fun seeing Lindsay and Chris interacting with Cooper... and after they have actually been able to sleep. These two let me pick their brain about all things parenting and newborn survival and I think I've decided to let our baby girl live with them for the first few months as they're obviously doing something right!
Being a part of a proposal is like keeping the best secret ever and getting to capture the surprise is the cherry on top. It was important to Hunter to have this proposal happen on their 5 year dating anniversary... what a way to celebrate, right?! However, it meant juggling lots of logistics since it would mean coordinating work schedules and beating the clock on sunset as it was a Friday. We chatted back and forth about the best way to make this night one they would remember forever. When the day came, Hunter was so excited and a bundle of nerves as he just wanted to make it all perfect. We met up at Ray's on the River to plot it out and Hunter left to pick up Brittney... leaving me to sit and stew about how I could blend in and not draw attention to myself! Thankfully when I saw them heading my way, Brittney stopped to take a picture of the sunset over the river and I realized she was definitely not going to pay any attention to me... especially if I was "on the phone" when they walked by. My heart was racing as I saw Hunter reaching into his jacket pocket for the ring and my cheeks hurt from smiling as Brittney's reaction was just so perfect. After the realization set in that she was getting married, Hunter pointed me out - I had successfully remained camouflaged and unseen! We then took a few additional portraits before the sun went down and they got to toast their big news over dinner and later with their families. I absolutely adore these two and am so thankful I was able to be a part of this special moment for Hunter and Brittney!!
