I had the honor of photographing Britta and Hoyt's gorgeous day that started with an early afternoon ceremony at Cathedral of Christ the King and ended with a long night of dancing and toasting the newlyweds at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center! Their spring wedding day was picture-perfect with flowers blooming and the sun shining, which drew guests outside for a cigar bar and selfies under the arched entry way draped with beautiful garland by Boukates! With a couple that met at a bar and got engaged at a brewery, I knew this wedding would be fun but I had no idea what I was in for. I don't think I have ever seen a crowd, specifically a father of the bride and brother of the bride, get so hype for "Feel Like A Woman" by Shania Twain. It was awesome! Everything about their day centered around family and since these two were the first of their siblings to get married, they set the bar quite high!
We have had WEEKS of rain but Leslie and Chuck must be good luck because we had a GORGEOUS evening to stroll the Beltline together for their engagement session. However, that also meant that everyone and their cousin was whizzing up and down on their scooters, bikes, and rollerblades which made it fun to try and walk backwards while photographing them walking! Thankfully Leslie and Chuck were kind enough to not let me get run over by other Beltline-strollers. Since mural-hopping on the Beltline takes a bit of time on foot (we were tempted to rent bikes or scooters), it did give us a chance to get to know each other which is a huge part of the engagement session for me! I learned that Leslie is a crazy talented illustrator and while her work requires her to illustrate less than glamorous things, she is using her talents for their wedding and I can't wait to see what she creates! I also got some restaurant tips from my new favorite foodie Chuck. They both have different interests but that's what makes them click I think, they just seem to inspire each other to enjoy life's adventures. We ended our night at Piedmont Park where they busted out their favorite team (Atlanta United of course) gear and watched the sun go down. Leslie and Chuck - thank you so much for fighting the traffic to have your engagement session! I cannot WAIT for May!
I headed back down to Saint Simons Island again, this time for Hannah and Trey's wedding!! I was able to explore the area with them for their engagement session last October and you just can't beat sunshine pouring through those big mossy covered oaks. Needless to say I was so excited about their day! Having a couple as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside was the cherry on top of all the natural beauty. However, with the forecast showing an 80% chance of rain... my hopes for gorgeous portraits beneath those trees were slim to none at best. As the day went on, the forecast improved. As Hannah said, "This is the weather the grandmas have been praying for." Apparently I need to get these ladies on my payroll because it turned out to be a BEAUTIFUL, sunny day and Hannah and Trey deserved no less.
