I first met Meghan and Garrett in DC for their engagement session. After meeting at sunrise and exploring the Tidal Basin on a chilly morning I learned quickly that they are such a sweet, laid back couple. It should have been no surprise that they rolled with the punches when the forecast said 100% chance of rain for their wedding. I've had rainy wedding days before, but usually there's at least a little break... Not so much for Meghan and Garrett's day. Thankfully they were ready to get a little creative for their portraits with indoor spaces and the covered entryway to the Capital City Club. There were so many sweet moments throughout their wedding day, but one of my favorites was after their first kiss when the entire church erupted in cheers and applause. It took a minute for everyone to settle back down as they still had the second half of the service left! It was just one example of how excited everyone was to see Meghan and Garrett officially married. These two are loved and were celebrated so well throughout their wedding day and it was truly an honor to be a part of it!
Sometimes the newborn phase is so fleeting... and exhausting and overwhelming... that pictures just aren't on the radar. Brooke reached out wanting to make sure she captured this chapter in their lives before Caroline lost some her baby-ness and I'm so glad she did! I actually LOVE getting to photograph babies at this stage as they look more like the little person they're becoming, and if you're lucky you can snag a real smile or two! Brooke and Drew are obviously so smitten with their baby girl, but it's also obvious they still love their "first born" and fur baby, Bailey. Bailey wears the Big Sister title proudly and loved getting in on the photos during their session! Brooke and Drew - enjoy each and every cuddle and new milestone, it goes by so fast! Hopefully these images will help you relive this sweet time with Caroline as she grows and changes into the beautiful girl I know she'll be! Thanks for having me!!
This month I was able to celebrate and photograph another Hanson wedding at Ponce City Market! True to tradition, the newest son-in-law is tall dark and handsome ...and a perfect match. Also true to tradition, Mackenzie (AKA Kenzie, Kenz, and Billy) and Alex had an amazing party with their family friends! These two are both kind and genuine people, but they also bring out the silly in each other and it is so fun to watch. They're just so comfortable with each other and with themselves when they're together and I think it's absolutely reflected in their pictures! It didn't hurt that it was also THE perfect day for a wedding - cool fall weather and a little overcast so we had freedom to explore all over Ponce!
I was the third (non-medical) person to meet sweet Lucy. She was only an hour into this world and had already wrapped her parents around her little fingers... and may have made my uterus ache a little. Her perfect little face and tiny little fingers... just makes you melt. I was so honored that Haley and Thomas wanted me to capture those first few moments as a family of three. It's an incredible and fleeting time and I'm just so glad Lucy made her arrival before I had a wedding to shoot so I could be there. Once these three were settled in at home, I was able to capture all the newborn sleepy, squishy-ness. Thomas and Haley are still in the "what are we supposed to be doing now?!" phase but they are already so comfortable in their roles as Mom and Dad. Lucy girl, you are in such good hands and Mila is all ready to show you the way (for better or worse). I cannot wait to watch you grow up and grow into your own little personality. Thomas and Haley - YOU'VE GOT THIS! And when you think you don't, you have an entire support system ready to help... I for one volunteer as tribute for baby snuggles when you need a break. LOVE YOU GUYS!
Only Annie and Graham could totally make you forget about getting a ticket on the way to a shoot. With their big smiles, easy laughs and a shared love of bourbon, we became fast friends and I had so much fun with them exploring Ponce City Market inside and out! Annie mentioned that she saw pictures of our dog Molly and noticed how similar she looks to their dog! Once I knew they had a pup that was getting left out of their engagement session and he was just up the road at doggie daycare, we made a plan for his jailbreak for a few pictures before sunset. However we first had to go up to the rooftop for bourbon old fashioneds and an amazing view! Although next time we are going down the slides guys!! I absolutely cannot wait for their wedding at the Estate next spring! Annie and Graham - thanks for getting all dressed up, braving the unseasonably warm weather (95 in October, WHAT?!) and making my night totally turn around! Love you guys!
