There is an understood level of trust between a couple and their wedding photographer, but when I called Brittany the week of her wedding to iron out the timeline ...and convince them to do a first look, their trust was tested. With an overcast day and daylight savings making it dark before dinner time, we wouldn't have the beautiful, bright portraits they were dreaming of. This brings me back to the trust. They 100% valued my professional opinion and decided to see each other before their ceremony... and I am SO glad they did because Brittany's grandmother's house was the PERFECT backdrop for their portraits! Brittany and Tucker were the sweetest during their first look and portrait time - all giggles and sweet kisses, but soon it was time to load everyone up and head to the venue!
Last week I got to meet Kristen and Eric's newest addition to their family (and Xander's new BFF), Allie! A new puppy at an engagement session? YES PLEASE! But having two dogs definitely requires a little wrangling during an engagement session and I'm so thankful Madeline (a past bride and BFF!) was able to help keep the dogs entertained and full of treats so we could capture a few portraits without them! It's obvious that Kristen and Eric are so in love, but also best friends. These two can make each other laugh at the drop of a hat and they definitely had me rolling during their session. We first explored downtown Marietta before heading to Kennesaw Mountain to get that yummy golden hour light! After strolling through the high grass, throwing a few leaves at each other, and bribing Xander and Allie with treats, their session was a wrap! Kristen and Eric - thank you for taking time out of your busy work week to capture these images!!
Emily and Ben's wedding day was a long time coming... it was also a second try at what was supposed to be the most wonderful day of their lives this past April. One week before their wedding day, Emily had a medical emergency that could have taken her life. Several surgeries, scary moments and lots of prayers later - Emily was good as gold. While going through one of the hardest times in her life, Emily stayed positive and leaned on her loved ones, especially Ben. Not many couples go through so much before they even make it down the aisle, but it made this past weekend THAT much more meaningful. Their dream team of vendors regrouped and created a day even better than before and I am so thankful I was able to be a part of it!
One of the things I love most about my job is getting to capture sweet couples during such an exciting time in their lives. What makes it an extra special perk for me is when that couple is like family. I grew up with Jeremy as my brother from another mother and I am SO thrilled he found the love of his life to marry next Summer!! Brittany and Jeremy complement each other so perfectly and it's easy to see how much fun they have together. Before the shoot, Brittany and Jeremy told me that they were not the most comfortable in front of the camera, and knowing Jeremy he was just hoping I didn't make him to anything embarrassing to send to his friends later. But before the rain ruined our plans for the second half of the shoot, they were total naturals! Since they could make each other laugh, I could take care of the rest! Brittany and Jeremy - thank you for making the drive to Atlanta for your session! I wish the weather would have cooperated but so appreciate y'all just going with the flow! LOVE YOU TWO!!!
I had the honor of photographing Alston and Chris' beautiful wedding at the Waterfall Club in Clayton, Georgia. It was a quintessential fall wedding with deep burgundy bridesmaids dresses, rich bouquets, and of course the backdrop of the colorful foliage of North Georgia in November. However, it wouldn't be Georgia without a little surprise rain before the ceremony. Thankfully it cleared and we actually got a double rainbow! We all agreed it was a good omen. Alston and Chris' day was so meaningful, but the part I loved the most was their first dance. Alston wrote a song three weeks after Chris proposed and recorded it to play for their first dance. Chris had no idea and I'm pretty sure there wasn't a dry eye in the house after it was over. I live for these special, unique moments during a wedding day!
