For Memorial Day Weekend we loaded the car with my camera gear, enough groceries for an army, sneakers for hiking (and of course Molly) to head to Big Canoe for Madeline and Ben's wedding (and also Madeline's birthday!)!! With guests having to travel for their wedding day, Madeline and Ben wanted to make sure they created an experience for their family and friends. They absolutely made the most of a long weekend. Festivities started Friday and didn't end until late Sunday night when Madeline and Ben left for the night as newlyweds in a thick cloud of sparkler smoke (thanks humidity). Madeline planned every detail to make sure her guests felt welcome at Big Canoe and crafted many of the beautiful accents herself. It truly made it feel like we were at a party hosted at their mountain home and it was such an honor to be a part of the celebrations! We started the day with a pretty high chance of rain, but every time we checked the weather we became more hopeful for a rain-free day. When it was time for Madeline and Ben's first look, the skies cleared and the sun came out! Further proof that even the forecast couldn't beat Madeline's epic planning skills! The afternoon flew by and before we knew it, it was ceremony time. We loaded up a few bridesmaids and headed to The Chimneys where Madeline and Ben said "I do!" (and so many other sweet things I won't repeat because I already teared up at them the first time) under lush canopies. Although the weather held up, the day wasn't without its hiccups.... mainly just my hiccup when my car keys went to the reception without me. Thankfully, Amanda's husband came to the rescue (you're the best, Jason!!) and we made it to the Clubhouse! The rest of the night was a frenzy of hugs, dance moves, a birthday song and an epic sunset. I'm so grateful to call these two friends, basically neighbors, and that we were able to celebrate with Madeline and Ben. Cheers to the new Mr. & Mrs. Smalley! I hope you love these as much as I do! So grateful to Amanda of A.Bloch Photography for not only traveling to Big Canoe a long weekend for this wedding day but helping to capture it so beautifully!! We snuck these two out at dinner for a few more portraits and I'm so glad we did!!
