I absolutely love being a part of wedding days and getting to see my couples head over heels in love, but when I get invited into their home to capture this new little person that has brought them even closer together... it's so special. I love that my business has grown alongside so many clients! Josh and Elizabeth are totally in the haze of new parent life where down is up and up is down and no one remembers when they last ate or if they washed the pacifier the dog licked, but what is totally clear in this phase is the wonder and pure love when they look at their sweet baby girl... and I'm talking about the human baby, not their fur baby Wrigley. Don't worry, they definitely still have all the love for their Vizsla baby too! Sweet Samantha was not ready to sleep right away so we got in lots of fun pictures with Mom and Dad... and Wrigley made sure she was included as well. Parents always hope that their little ones will sleep soundly through their session like little angels, but let me tell you - I don't mind having to cuddle those babies one bit!! Especially one as cute as Samantha! I can't wait to see this family grow and also see how Wrigley and Samantha become BFFs. Josh and Elizabeth - thank you for letting me in on this special time!! Love you guys!!
I knew this crew back when there were just two, then Megan and Josh's family grew by three kind, spunky, blonde haired blue-eyed girls. I have watched these girls grow up and taken notes as Megan and Josh have navigated this whole parenthood in the best way possible - together. We finally got together for pictures instead of play dates and I'm so glad we did. The last time I photographed the Hutchins family was when Hope was a newborn and now she's THREE! Time flies when you're having fun... and total chaos when you have three kids so scheduling photos gets tricky. We started with a few pictures at their home so we could include Gus (my requirement) and then headed to Mabry Park where the fall colors were just STUNNING! The girls skipped, tickled, giggled, twirled, tossed leaves into the air and showed off their sweet personalities. Megan and Josh - thank you guys for showing us how to raise incredibly kind, silly, sweet and fierce little women and for loving on our little woman. Now it's time to update that framed photo in the office.
As I added images into the Poucher Family's past online gallery, I looked back through the past few years of their sessions. Their family has grown and changed so much, but those ear to ear grins have stayed the same. It's so fun to see how James and George have become best friends and with the newest edition (maybe my favorite Poucher baby since John's initials are JDP), their brotherly love has just grown. Just seeing them together you can tell they will have many wrestling matches but even more hugs. Life throws curve balls, schedules get crazy, little ones don't stay so little... that's why it is so important to make time for photos with your family. Allie and Kirk - thank you for being up for a last minute date and for letting me hang with your family again this year!! Love you FIVE!
I had the chance to spend time with the Brooks family again this year and once again it was unseasonably chilly! We pushed back our session start time to avoid 40 degree weather... and settled for mid 50's. Maybe it's the south Georgian in me, but mid 50's is still pretty chilly. Thankfully Hunter, Sarah and Abby weren't phased and were up to explore the park. Abby is definitely an independent little lady full of spunk and the most gorgeous eyes EVER! Now that I have my own toddler with a mind of her own, I have a WHOLE new appreciation for how hard it is to physically prepare for your family photos AND also to mentally prepare for the shoot. Sometimes capturing a little magic takes time with little ones and that's ok! That's why it helps to pack a snack, some patience... and maybe have their favorite movie or song ready to hit play on your phone. Sarah and Hunter - thank you for giving up your morning to get your steps in chasing a little one around Piedmont. I know it may have been daunting, but I think it was so worth it!
On a super dreary fall day I got to meet a precious little boy named Andrew and his sweet parents! Often my newborn clients are past wedding clients so there is a level of comfort there for new parents. Since this was my first time meeting Meredith and Alan, it was not lost on me that I was being invited into an intimate and super vulnerable time for first time Mom and Dad! Thankfully it felt more like meeting old friends. Andrew was such a precious little nugget... a hungry little nugget, but so precious! I loved getting to incorporate some fun details into this session like the New York Times from the day he was born (a nod to Dad's job!) and the amazing map rug that fit perfectly with Andrew's travel themed nursery. Meredith and Alan - thank you for trusting me to capture this special time in your family's life!! Congratulations again!
