I was there when this cutie's big brother came into the world and I was so thrilled to be there after they grew to a family of four (well really five, can't forget about sweet Luna). It's always an honor to be invited into a family's big milestones but it's so special when they're your friends. Emily and Evan decided to wait to find out if they were having a boy or a girl. My vote was always girl as it seemed to be the year of the girl - almost everyone I knew having a baby was having a girl last year! After Davis was born I remember Emily saying, "I didn't know how much I needed a girl until I had her." It's funny how little girls can just melt your heart! Although I think sweet Will is going to be the best, most protective big brother of little Davis and I cannot wait to watch them grow up together! Foster family - we miss you guys! A playdate needs to get on the calendar ASAP!
We took advantage of the gorgeous, dare I say, fall-like weather this past weekend to capture the Montag family at Cator Woolford Gardens. It is such a beautiful location in Atlanta and sweet Cooper loved scooting along and investigating everything in arms reach... and promptly putting them in his mouth. Life as a one year old I suppose! I photographed Cooper at just a week old and again at six months and it absolutely blows me away at how fast a year can fly by. I am also blown away at how big Cooper has gotten! Lindsey and Chris must be making sure he's eating his veggies! It is always such a joy to photograph families as they grow and change but as a new mom it is also fun to get a sneak peek at what life will look like in a few "short" months. Lindsey and Chris - thank you for getting up and dressed early on a Sunday morning to capture these! It was so great to see y'all again!
As I'm wrapping up my maternity leave (as much as a small business owner can take maternity leave) and wedding season is upon us, I wanted to share a little behind the scenes look at what life has been like the past few weeks. In early July we welcomed our baby girl, Mila. Our hearts, home and hands have never been more full. We have had late night feedings, approximately one million loads of laundry, a few boxes of diapers, hours of sweet snuggles, a few accidental smiles and lately more intentional smiles. As far as babies go, we think we got a good one... even when she scrunches her face and it turns bright red before letting out a cry. Our house has been a revolving door of family that can't get enough of her and graciously babysits so we can have a few date nights ...and help me see the outside world a bit. In the last few weeks I've learned more about myself and what I'm capable of than I ever expected. Life with a newborn is like living in the movie Groundhog Day... but on a three hour cycle. For someone that is used to a great deal of independence during the day, that is a challenge.
It's hard to believe I've known this sweet family for FOUR years now. What started as a work relationship after a photography meet up has turned into wonderful memories of work-cations with husbands, kids of the two legged and four legged variety, man-dates, photo session swapping, many dinners at Taqueria Tsunami, and birthday parties and showers. Now we get to walk through this next phase in our lives with Amanda and Jason holding our hands along the way as the experienced pros. I remember casually telling Amanda we were pregnant (like a DAY pregnant) while eating Sonic on our way to a wedding (our tradition). She knew about our struggles and about my fertility appointment earlier that week and I was DYING to tell her... ironically about a week later she told me that they were expecting baby number TWO! We are due 6 days apart and I can't wait for our babies to meet. ...I also wish we could get a 2-for-1 deal at the hospital. Morgan and I are so grateful to call these folks our friends, but I'm also incredibly grateful for the example they set as parents and husband and wife through this chapter in their lives. Amanda and Jason - I hope you're ready for ALL the matching onesies, weekend trips, and us harassing you with questions about what in the world we are supposed to be doing with this baby. We love you guys!!!
I love getting to capture families as they grow and it's even sweeter now that we are growing our own family! I got to photograph Cooper a week after he came into the world and now he's 6 months old and boy has he grown!! He is definitely a charmer and I can see why he's the favorite at his daycare. We had the PERFECT spring day (in February?!) for these pictures and I'm so glad I got to spend time with this family. Not only does Lindsay look AH-mazing (#momgoals), but it was fun seeing Lindsay and Chris interacting with Cooper... and after they have actually been able to sleep. These two let me pick their brain about all things parenting and newborn survival and I think I've decided to let our baby girl live with them for the first few months as they're obviously doing something right!
