Lake Oconee Wedding: Twisha & MAx

Twisha and Max's wedding day at the Landings Pavilion on Lake Oconee truly embodied everything I love about shooting weddings. I photographed Max's sister's wedding last year and when Twisha and Max got engaged (about FOUR MONTHS ago!), they reached out to me first to photograph it. It's not super common for couples to get engaged and married within 4 months, but Twisha and Max did it and managed to do it based on my availability. I was so humbled that they wanted me to be a part of another amazing family event let alone planning it around my schedule. Have I mentioned I have the best couples in the entire world?! Their wedding day fit them to a T and truly epitomized what they wanted their day to be about: celebrating with family and friends... with a LOT of fun and dancing. And it's exactly what they got!
Because Twisha and Max live in New York City, they recruited help from Max's sister (and my past sweet bride), Eryn. She wore ALL THE HATS that day- wedding coordinator, officiant, decorator, family wrangler... she was AWESOME! While the family got the venue dressed up, I was with Twisha and Amrita while they got ready. It was so relaxed with just the two of them! Twisha even did her own makeup - although you'd think she was a pro! Sometimes on relaxed wedding days the schedule can slip through the cracks but we were running like clockwork. Finally it was time for Max and Twisha's first look on the water. It was SO incredibly sweet! ...until a GIANT snake crashed the portrait party and distracted us as we watched it eat a fish whole. That was definitely a wedding day first.

Thankfully we were safe but the guys were a little more curious. As we headed back to the house, half checking over our shoulders to look for the snake - Twisha and Max were greeted by her parents with hugs and lots of selfies. We headed to the venue and before I could even give Eryn and Adam a big hug, she was handing me a bottle of bourbon. [Can every wedding day unfold like this?!] We wrapped up portraits and prepped for the ceremony. Even after a little delay for the ceremony (missing bouquets will do it every time), the wedding was PERFECT. Their closest family and friends joined them for a celebration that felt like a fancy party in their own backyard with delicious food and even s'mores by the fire pit. But this backyard party wasn't necessarily a tame one - Twisha and Max's family and friends know how to PARTY and boy were they fun! At the end of the night, the newlyweds left under a tunnel of sparklers and I just wish we could relive their day all over again. I suppose their images will have to do! Twisha and Max - thank you for including me in your day and making me feel like one of the family. I hope you love these as much as I do!!
