We started the shoot at a marina that we may or may not have snuck onto with yachts worth more than my life. Morgan kept the dogs occupied while their parents pretended to own said yachts. We then headed to Crescent Bay which is exactly what it sounds like. Cliffs and rocks shape the beach into a crescent and kept the water calmer for the families there just to enjoy the beach. It was absolutely STUNNING!!! Crescent Bay was packed with beach goers and other families having their pictures taken, but we were able to capture gorgeous images, and of course included the pups! Because the cliffs in Crescent Bay block the sunset, we raced to the car and headed back towards Huntington Beach. However, evening traffic had other plans. We jumped out of the car while Morgan parked and ran down to the pier in Newport as the sun went down. It was the PERFECT ending to a wonderful shoot! I am so grateful for Madeline and Ben opening up their home to us and trusting me with such an exciting time in their lives. I can't wait for their wedding in Big Canoe next year!!!
This photographer got to check an item off the photography bucket list - a destination shoot in California!! Madeline and Ben have two dogs and if you follow my work, you know that I am always in favor of furbabies joining in for a shoot! Since they live in California, it meant I would just have to come to them if Foster and Bruce were going to be included. When Madeline and I Skyped to discuss the possibility of me coming to their new home in Huntington Beach, I'm pretty sure I squealed! It's always fun to shoot in new places but the gorgeous coastline in Southern California is just incredible, not to mention the perfect weather and stunning light! Morgan decided that I needed an assistant for this shoot so we booked our flights and counted down for the big trip! Madeline and Ben were gracious enough to host us while we were there and I seriously didn't want to leave. When you're basically traveling across the country to stay with people you don't know, you never know if you'll "click" with each other. I'm pretty sure within 5 minutes we felt like these people were our new best friends... It didn't hurt that they had super cute dogs though. Madeline and Ben gave us the sweetest welcome gift and I was so grateful and totally blown away by their generosity! I was just so excited to be there and start taking pictures of everything!
